For the Flash Fiction Friday challenge for April 20, please use the image above. The required word count is 129 or less, excluding the title. We’ll do something different for the required word or phrase – there is no specific word, but you must use a word that is different word if you spell it backwards, and you must use it both ways in the story. An example is: “star”, which becomes “rats” spelled backward.

Some people call that kind of word a “Semordnilap” – that is a name coined for a word or phrase that spells a different word or phrase backwards. Ironically (grammer nerds are so ironic, you know) “Semordnilap” is itself “palindromes” spelled backwards. Palindromes are words that are the same word with the same meaning spelled frontward or backward: “civic” is an example. Well, that’s probably more than you want to know.

Anyway go find an interesting semordnilap and use ’em both in the story. Star is off limits :). Tell us in your notes after the story, what semordnilap you chose.

I am guest hosting Flash Fiction Friday again this week as the usual host, Panserbjørne, author of Insatiabear: A Panserbjørne’s Musings is otherwise occupied.

As is our custom, nobody’s checking word counts, or the key word/phrase, but its great fun to see how the different writers respond to the constraints in their creations.

My FFF will go up by 1:00 AM Pacific time on Friday morning, April 20. That post will include the Linky Widget in which all the authors can post links to their entries. Everyone is welcome!

If you are participating this week (and the more the merrier — tell all your friends), simply stop by any time after that and leave your link in that widget in the body at the bottom of the post. Then everybody will know you’re playing along and they’ll come read your erotic words, and often leave nice comments and constructive thoughts on your entry.

Here’s a button for you if you want to include that in your post. Use it to link back here, if you like, or use the link to the Flash Fiction Friday FAQ, below, if you’d rather do that. Please do provide a link back to either this challenge post, or to my main blog page. We want everybody to enjoy this, and be able to find the other author-players.

So, check back here on Friday for all the flashers.
